Our purpose is the foundation of our vision, mission and values – this is what makes us who we are. And it’s why we invest with confidence.
The world has changed. And to remain relevant, we need to change with it. As a global phenomenon and trend, sustainable and impact approaches to investing have grown significantly. Business leaders and investors are faced with an entirely new set of questions. Can we still rely on old business models? Will investor preferences change? How do we remain relevant?
At Sanlam Investments, our ultimate aim is to be more than just an asset manager; we want to be agents of change where we remain relevant in the face of our clients’ changing needs. We want to bring financial independence to all South Africans by boosting financial literacy, investing in job creation, reducing our carbon footprint and helping clients retire with dignity. We are looking out for the next generation in a way that goes beyond wealth creation.

Investing for impact.
Our Investors’ Legacy Range was our urgent response to COVID-19 to help jump-start the economy and preserve jobs.
We are actively supporting the recovery of South African businesses negatively impacted by COVID-19, from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to large corporates. We’ve already invested R2.25 billion into three impact strategies with one common goal: job preservation and creation.
The Investors’ Legacy Range is made up of three individual impact strategies focused uniquely on job creation and preservation. These strategies support the recovery of strong businesses which have been negatively impacted by the pandemic, but which are likely to produce sustainable cash flows in the future.
This strategy provides debt finance to good quality SMEs in various sectors that have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The intention is to generate financial returns for investors while preserving and creating jobs.
This strategy provides debt finance to medium and large-sized corporates negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic but have strong underlying credit fundamentals and are likely to deliver strong financial performance post-pandemic. This strategy also aims to preserve and create jobs.
This strategy provides equity and quasi-equity liquidity to medium-sized South African companies to ensure business continuity, with a focus on job preservation, inclusive growth and job quality, while seeking equity returns across a diversified portfolio of investments.
Offering private market opportunities with compelling returns.
There is something to be said for leaving a legacy. Building something that will then be used for generations to come. Helping create tangible assets that are useful and sustainable. Guiding people along a path and instituting bridges over the obstacles they might face.
With the right people and the right partners, we can create a legacy plan for South Africa. A tangible plan, built from roads, bridges, renewable energy, healthcare, communication, water and waste-related assets.
